Common issue with oilheads – 850/1100/1150, the engine oil filler cap starts leaking. Just changing the top o-ring does not help, you have to also change the one between the cap recess and the aluminum valve cover.

Every now and then, it is a good idea to open up the starter motor and clean it and lube it. Clutch friction plate dust gets in there, making it not retract as it should, and, in time, result in flywheel wear! We don’t need that.
When you open up the starter motor for inspection, you might accidentally snap the brush spring over the brittle plastic holder, resulting in the brushes not sitting in as they should. Get the plastic holder in time and have it at hand, in case you need it!

Selling here are the two seals, and not the piston. The piston is not an item that wears, the seals are. If the brake fluid was not changed as it should be, every 2 years or every 20.000 kms, it starts to crystallize and the seals rub against the crystals, so that the brake system starts to leak. Not only is this dangerous (the front brake takes care of 70% of the motorcycle mass) but if dripping, it can ruin the nice paint on your fairing/tank.

As time passes, after numerous heat/cool engine cycles, along all those years since the bike has been built, the intake pulleys start to crack, at first, and then they literally break, leaving you accelerating with just one of the two carburetors. The BMW 1200-1250 DOHC/liquid cooled series of engines require some special BMW tools for general maintenance like valve adjustment, clutch swapping and gearbox removal and installation, for example for a burnt alternator swap.
These tools allow you to perform your own maintenance, with so many youtube tutorials at hand, nowadays.

This here is a repair kit for the clutch slave cylinder. The kit contains the seal and the circlip that holds the piston in place when the pump is removed from the gearbox(the cylinder body is not included!)
Just fit the new rubber, grease the pressure bearing and you should be good for 15+ years of riding that bike, over and over.

Rear caliper heat shield, goes between the pistons and the pad, not allowing heat transfer from the pad trough the pistons to the brake fluid.
Happens a lot especially on the newer LC bikes, the rear brake pedal becoming more spongy and losing, gradually, the rear braking force.
